Private-Label Monk Fruit Sweetener OEM: Formula, MOQ, and Packaging

To launch your own monk fruit sweetener brand, start with the product requirements. Hengliyuan helps determine ingredient ratios and sweetness, uses samples to discuss taste, selects the packaging format together with the customer, then designs the packaging. Customers do not need a complete formula and artwork before starting.

OEM products carry the customer’s own brand. You can start with existing product specifications or propose new formula and packaging requirements. The workable solution is confirmed for each project.

Step 1: Hengliyuan helps determine ratios and sweetness

Will consumers add the sweetener to coffee or tea, or use it in home cooking or baking? Should they measure the same weight as sugar, or use less to reach the target sweetness? These questions directly affect formula selection. Hengliyuan can discuss erythritol–monk fruit, erythritol–monk fruit–steviol glycoside, and allulose–monk fruit blends, among other options. If stevia or erythritol must be excluded, say so before sample selection. Both stevia-containing and stevia-free options can be adjusted for the target taste. Hengliyuan mainly adds stevia to supplement initial sweetness; stevia-free erythritol–monk fruit formulas can also achieve a similar taste effect by combining several monk fruit extracts. Hengliyuan helps set ingredient ratios and target sweetness from the customer’s requirements, then confirms them with samples. Customers can describe the taste they want, and Hengliyuan translates those requirements into a formula.

Step 2: sample trials and taste adjustment

Samples are prepared around the initial formula. Customers test them in actual coffee, tea or food and report specific impressions, such as weak initial sweetness, excessive lingering sweetness or bitterness. Hengliyuan discusses adjustments to ratios and sweetness until both sides confirm the selected sample version. Specify the use, target sweetness and ingredient requirements when sampling. Sample quantity, fees, timing and adjustment arrangements are agreed for the particular project.

Set sweetness and sachet weight around each use

For individual sachets, start with the intended use: one sachet per occasion, providing approximately how much sugar-equivalent sweetness? Then discuss net weight per sachet based on the target relative sweetness. For example, Hengliyuan’s currently confirmed Indonesian 5 g sachet is approximately 3× as sweet as sugar. In practical recipe planning, a whole sachet is treated as providing roughly the sweetness of 15 g of sugar. Sachet weight and sweetness must be considered together; 5 g does not automatically mean the sweetness of 5 g of sugar. The following calculations only illustrate the relationship between sweetness and weight. They are not confirmed Hengliyuan pack specifications:

Desired sweetnessFormula’s relative sweetnessTheoretical weight required
Equivalent to 5 g of sugar5 g
Equivalent to 5 g of sugar1 g

Final net weight also depends on actual taste, dosing and packing conditions. For cooking or baking, consider sugar’s bulk, texture and coloring functions too. Equal sweetness does not mean every food can use the same replacement ratio.

Step 3: choose the packaging format together and discuss minimum orders

Existing Hengliyuan products include 100 g and 454 g packs, and 30 × 5 g sachets with a total net weight of 150 g. These can be starting points for OEM discussions. Formula, net weight, inner and outer packaging, and quantities are confirmed separately for custom projects. View the Hengliyuan product catalog.

Packaging optionWhat to decide together
Individual sachetsWeight, sweetness and directions per sachet, and sachets per outer pack
Family packsTotal net weight, dispensing method, and resealing and storage after opening
Other custom packagingFormat, dimensions, materials, fill weight, expected quantity and relevant production conditions

The outer pack’s total net weight must match its contents. For example, 30 × 5 g equals 150 g. If sachet weight or count per box changes, update the outer net weight, directions and quotation together.

With existing packaging, 500 units can be customized; new packaging has separate minimums

When packaging suitable for the order is already available, Hengliyuan can customize 500 finished units. Customers can also send their completed packaging to the factory for Hengliyuan to manufacture the confirmed formula and pack it. The order must define units as jars, bags or other retail units, not 500 kilograms.

Who supplies the packagingHow to understand the minimum
Customer sends existing packaging to HengliyuanAfter confirming compatibility with the product and production, customization can be discussed for 500 finished units
New custom packaging must be orderedConfirm finished-product and packaging purchase quantities separately; packaging must meet the supplier’s minimum purchase per order

Before shipping packaging, confirm its format, dimensions, fill weight, quantity and printed content with Hengliyuan, rather than discovering after arrival that it does not match the product or production requirements.

Minimum purchase quantities for new packaging

The minimum purchase per order for custom packaging needs early attention in OEM projects. The number of finished products made now and the amount of packaging purchased now are separate quantities.

Packaging format or materialIndicative minimum per purchaseNotes
Standard labels for jarsAbout 2,000 labelsJars and labels are ordered separately; the jar minimum depends on the selected jar and is confirmed separately
Shrink-sleeve labels for jarsAbout 2,000 sleevesA different packaging choice from standard labels; confirm for the actual project
Packaging bagsAbout 20,000 bagsThis is the packaging purchase quantity, not automatically the finished-product production quantity
Inner individual sachetsAbout 200,000 sachetsInner and outer packaging are calculated separately
Outer packs for individual sachetsAbout 20,000 outer packsCheck that inner and outer quantities match the number of sachets in each outer pack

These are Hengliyuan’s current reference minimums for custom packaging discussions. Final quantities are confirmed against the selected materials, specifications and supplier quotation. For example, a customer planning an initial 500 jars can discuss production with existing packaging if suitable jars and labels are available. If new standard labels are needed, allow for about 2,000 labels and confirm jar purchasing terms separately. Unused labels can be stored at Hengliyuan’s factory for later orders.

Order packaging once and produce finished goods in batches

If the customer does not need that many finished products at once, custom packaging can first be purchased at its minimum quantity, while finished goods are produced in batches as needed. Remaining custom packaging can stay at Hengliyuan’s factory; we store it for use on the next order. The packaging minimum therefore does not require buying the same number of finished products at once. For example, if 20,000 bags are customized and only some are used now, the rest can stay at the factory for later orders. For sachets, also check inner and outer pack quantities. If each outer pack holds 30 sachets, 20,000 outer packs require 600,000 sachets, exceeding the 200,000-sachet inner-pack minimum. Meeting both minimums separately does not mean all the quantities will match.

Include printing plate costs in the first order

For packaging that requires printing plates, an initial budget is about CNY 400 per color, calculated using the actual number of colors. For example, 4 colors cost about CNY 1,600 and 6 colors about CNY 2,400. Plate-making is a one-time investment, calculated separately from packaging materials. If the packaging does not change, the original plates can be reused and later orders do not pay again for the same set. Projects with multiple artworks need separate confirmation of plate requirements; final colors and charges depend on the artwork and plate-making quotation. If packaging changes later, first check whether plates need modification or replacement and the associated fees. List plate-making separately in the first-order budget. For repeat orders with the same packaging, do not include already-paid plate costs again when the plates remain usable. Small-batch OEM orders should therefore list finished-product quantity, each packaging purchase quantity and the one-time plate cost separately. Hengliyuan stores unused custom packaging for later orders, allowing packaging purchases and finished-product replenishment to follow their respective needs.

Step 4: design the packaging and confirm printed content

After selecting the formula, sweetness and packaging format, move to packaging design. The brand, product name, ingredients, net weight and directions must match the product agreed by both parties. If the formula changes, changing only the product name while keeping the old ingredient list is not acceptable; if sweetness changes, recheck the serving instructions too. Names on packaging for different countries should make sense to local consumers. In Indonesia, for example, the familiar name Luo Han Guo can be used for monk fruit rather than simply copying the English term. Formal ingredient declarations and other label content are confirmed for the target market and final product.

You do not need a complete formula to ask for a quote, but explain these five things

1. Sales country and main channels. 2. Specific use: coffee, tea, home cooking or another application. 3. Accepted or excluded ingredients, desired sweetness and taste. 4. Net weight per sachet or bag and outer packaging format; undecided points can be discussed. 5. Expected first-order quantity, desired arrival time and required documents. Hengliyuan uses this information to discuss samples and customization. After sample confirmation, put product specifications, packaging version, price, minimum quantity and lead time into the same order requirements. When comparing OEM quotations, consider net weight and sweetness as well as the price per sachet, bag or box. First compare the ingredient portion at equal sweetness, then add packaging, portioning and transport costs, avoiding a price comparison that treats different specifications as the same product. Frequently asked questions

If the custom packaging minimum is large, must all finished goods be produced at once?
No. Packaging can be customized at the minimum purchase quantity while finished goods are produced in batches as needed. Hengliyuan can store unused custom packaging at the factory for your next order.
Do printing plate fees apply to every order?
No. Plate-making is a one-time investment. If the packaging does not change, the original plates can be reused without paying again for the same set on later orders. If packaging changes, confirm whether the plates need modification or replacement.
Can I launch a monk fruit sweetener brand without my own formulation team?
Yes. Provide the application, ingredient requirements, target sweetness and taste. Hengliyuan can help develop the blend and confirm it through samples.
Can I use my own formula and brand?
Production and packaging can be discussed around your formula, subject to the sample, specifications and order requirements confirmed by both sides.
Does the same pack weight mean the same sweetness?
Not necessarily. 5 g is net weight; relative sweetness is a formula property. Confirm each separately and explain their use together.
What are the minimum order and lead time?
With suitable packaging already available, 500 finished units can be customized, and customers can send their packaging to Hengliyuan’s factory. New packaging requires about 2,000 standard or shrink-sleeve jar labels, about 20,000 bags, or about 200,000 inner sachets and 20,000 outer packs. Jar minimums depend on the jar type and are confirmed separately. The specific lead time is confirmed in the quotation based on the formula, packaging and production schedule.
