Neither form is universally superior. Choose for the finished product, use method and production equipment: compare powder where it will be blended with other powders or further processed; compare granules where repeated dosing, direct filling or flow behaviour matters.
"Powder" and "granules" describe form only; they do not replace an actual particle-size specification. Before purchase, confirm the form and specification covered by the Hengliyuan quotation, then verify the supplied sample in the intended mixing, dissolution, portioning or packing process.
When to consider erythritol powder
Powdered erythritol can be used in food and beverage production and as a base ingredient in blended sweeteners. It is a useful form to compare where the manufacturer needs to mix with other powdered ingredients or further formulate the material. Do not assume finer is better. Assess whether the powder suits the actual process: - Whether it meets project requirements after mixing with other powders; - Whether feeding and transfer create dust, adhesion or agglomeration; - Whether dispersion, dissolution and mouthfeel are suitable in the target food or beverage; - Whether dosing is stable on the existing packaging equipment. A finer powder does not automatically improve mixing, dissolution or packing. Formulation, environment, equipment and operating method all affect performance, which must be confirmed with the supplied sample.
When to consider erythritol granules
Granular erythritol is worth comparing for direct dosing, filling, retail packs or projects where material flow matters. Tabletop sweeteners, bulk direct-use packs and some individual portions can be evaluated in the existing equipment and intended use conditions. When selecting granules, observe: - Material flow through hoppers, transfer and filling; - Stability of dose per serving or fill per pack; - Whether consumers can pour or measure the material easily after opening; - Whether it achieves the required result after addition to the target food or beverage under specified conditions. Granules are not automatically easier to use in every machine. Particle size, shape, surface condition and the equipment itself affect the result, so test the specific supplied sample.
How should a granular mesh specification be requested?
Customers can specify a granular mesh requirement for their product and equipment. Mesh expresses particle size, but by itself does not establish flow, dissolution, filling or finished-use performance. State the application with the mesh request. The form considerations differ for factory batch feeding, retail containers, individual sachets and subsequent tableting, even where the product is granular in each case. After receipt, confirm discharge, filling, dissolution or other critical performance in the manufacturer’s own equipment and product before finalising the purchase specification. How to choose between 1kg bag, 25kg bag and 25kg drum?
Hengliyuan’s current erythritol packaging includes: - 1kg bag; - 25 kg bags; - 25kg drum. When selecting packaging, it should be judged based on sample testing, single dosage, picking method, transportation and storage conditions. 1kg bags can be used for samples, smaller quantities or items that need to be taken in batches; 25kg bags and 25kg drums can be used for bulk purchases. The specific selection depends on the customer's operation methods and packaging requirements. When customers need other net content, packaging materials or outer packaging forms, they can also submit customization requirements to Hengliyuan. Customized packaging requires further confirmation of specific specifications, quantity, artwork or labeling requirements, delivery time and quotation. When making formal purchases, the form of erythritol, particle mesh or other particle size requirements, net content of each package, and bagged or barreled form should be written in the same confirmation document to avoid using different conditions for samples, quotations, and orders.

When comparing, the formula dosage, equipment, operating procedures and observation time should be kept consistent. If warm water and high-speed stirring are used on one side, and cold water and manual stirring are used on the other side, the results cannot be used to judge the difference caused only by the shape of the material.
How to judge the form and solubility when used in beverages?
Erythritol can be used in beverages, but the formulation effect will be affected by the actual concentration, water temperature, stirring method, other ingredients and placement conditions. The name "powder" or "granule" alone does not necessarily mean that a sample will dissolve better in all beverages. When taking a sample, the amount of erythritol added, total amount of beverage, water temperature, order of addition and stirring method should be recorded. Observe whether there are visible particles when the preparation is just completed, and then recheck according to the actual drinking and storage conditions of the product. For cold drinks, check dissolution at the intended temperature, cooling sensation and whether visible crystals appear later.
Which form should be used in a blended sweetener?
When making blended sweeteners with erythritol, you cannot select powder or granules based solely on the name of the finished product. It also depends on the amount of other sweeteners used, the target sweetness level, the mixing method, the final packaging and how the customer will use it. If you need to disperse a small amount of high-intensity sweetener evenly in erythritol, you can first compare the powder solutions and corresponding mixing processes. If the finished product needs to be directly poured, measured or packed into individual packaging, continue to confirm the flow and packaging performance of the final compounded product.
