HENGLIYUAN / PACKAGING TOOLS

Carton packing planner.

From measured packs to a carton plan.
See the arrangement before discussing the packing specification.

Free to use · No login

Plan a regular single-SKU carton or try a mixed carton using measured pack dimensions. View the arrangement, check entered weight limits and save a company-layout PDF. Use fully packed retail units, such as one jar or one retail box of sticks. This tool does not infer dimensions from net fill.

YOUR PACKING BASIS

01 / Choose the planning task

Compare uniform orientations for one SKU. An optional order quantity gives a preliminary carton count.

02 / Usable carton interior

Measure inside after reserving space for packing materials and closures. Dimensions use mm, up to two decimals. No allowance is added automatically.

Weight fields are optional for geometry-only planning. To check a gross limit, enter measured tare and every unit's packaged gross mass. Unknown is not zero.

Outside carton dimensions for m³ (optional)

Use matching L/W/H axes. Required for outside carton volume and single-SKU shipment m³.

03 / Packed units

Measure the complete outside envelope, including caps or protrusions. For round jars, use diameter × diameter × height. Flexible packs need their actual filled thickness. Unit mass includes retail packaging.

ONE CARTON, IN VIEW

Start with the measured pack.

Enter usable carton dimensions and the outside size of a fully packed unit.

  1. Choose allowed orientation and stacking.
  2. Add weight inputs if you need a gross-limit check.
  3. Calculate, inspect the view, then save your planning record.

No dimensions, weights or package prices are assumed.

THE CALCULATION BASIS

A planning check before a physical packing trial.

A regular-grid count multiplies the whole units that fit along each usable inside axis. The tool compares the orientations you allow, then applies any entered gross-weight limit after subtracting carton and packing-material tare. Order cartons round up to a whole carton, so the final carton can be partly filled.

A mixed trial uses a placement heuristic for the quantities you enter in one carton. It is not a maximum-capacity proof. Rectangular outer envelopes do not model jar nesting, pouch compression, dividers, stack strength, pallet stability or container loading. Check the actual filled packs and final gross weight before approving a packing specification.

Outside carton volume (m³) = outside L × W × H in mm ÷ 1,000,000,000. Shipment m³ multiplies this by the single-SKU order carton estimate. Missing outside dimensions remain unconfirmed.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you pack.

Which dimensions should I enter?

Use the outside dimensions of one completely packed unit and the usable inside dimensions of the shipping carton, in millimetres. Reserve space for liners, dividers, cushioning and closures before entering the usable dimensions. A net fill such as 5 g or 250 g does not determine package dimensions.

Can I use this for jars, pouches and stick packs?

The model uses rectangular outer envelopes. For a round jar, enter the full outside diameter as length and width, and the height including the closure. For flexible packs, measure the filled pack in its intended packing condition. The drawing does not model compression, nesting, deformation or hexagonal jar arrangements. If several sticks form one retail box, use that complete retail box as one unit.

Does a regular grid give the maximum possible quantity?

It compares the uniform orientations you permit and reports the best regular grid among them, subject to any entered weight limit. More complex arrangements can differ. The planned units fill from the bottom layer upward; the result is a planning estimate requiring a physical packing check.

How is a mixed trial different?

The open-source heuristic attempts the quantities you enter in one carton. It does not prove that remaining units cannot fit by another arrangement, or that the result is optimal. Floor-only trials use a two-dimensional floor layout after choosing one permitted orientation per SKU; joint orientation and weight-limited arrangements are not optimized. Mixed trials are limited to 120 units per run for browser responsiveness; this is not a business quantity limit.

How are weights checked?

Enter each unit's gross mass including its own retail packaging. To apply a maximum carton gross mass, also enter the empty carton and packing-material tare. Available payload equals gross limit minus tare. Missing weights are not treated as measured zero: without a gross limit, the result is marked as geometry only, and unknown totals remain unconfirmed.

How are order cartons and cubic metres calculated?

For a single SKU, carton count is the order quantity divided by the planned units per carton, rounded up. The final carton can be part-filled. Shipment cubic metres use the shipping carton's outside length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000,000, multiplied by carton count. Outside dimensions must be supplied; inside dimensions are not a substitute. A one-carton mixed trial is not extrapolated into an order-level carton count.

Is this a loading instruction or a freight quotation?

No. Stack support, carton strength, closures, load distribution, moisture, pallets, container loading, handling and actual packed gross mass need review. Above-floor positions are shown but load-bearing support is not validated. The tool does not provide a freight rate, carton price or guaranteed loading plan.

Can I save and share the plan?

Copy the text or print/save a PDF using the Hengliyuan document layout. The PDF includes a bounding-box illustration and the planning basis. No login or contact details are needed. Entries stay in this page, clear on refresh, and are not automatically sent to Hengliyuan.
